You have a legal right to be informed about how Heads Up Kids uses any personal information that we hold about you. To comply with this, we provide a ‘privacy notice’ to you where we are processing your personal data. This privacy notice explains how we collect, store and use personal data about you. We, Heads Up Kids, are the ‘data controller’ for the purposes of data protection law.

We hold some personal information about you to help us support you with our resources and programmes. Personal data that we may collect, use, store and share (when appropriate) about you includes, but is not restricted to:

  • Your name
  • Your contact details 
  • Your school
  • Your school address
  • Your school year group
  • Your role
  • Website user statistics

 

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • Setting up an account on our website
  • Downloading resources from our website
  • Accessing our curriculum and support via website, email or phone

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • Staff at one school may share contact details of additional staff at their school
  • Multi-academy trusts or other educational umbrella organisations may share details of school staff they would like us to contact

We use the information that you have given us in order to share our programmes and associated support with you and update you about new programmes, resources or useful and relevant information 

We do not share this information with any other organisation or individual without permission from you. We may share anonymised data with grant-making organisations, trusts and commissioners for impact reporting purposes.

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful basis we rely on for processing this information is your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting info@headsupkids.org.uk.

 

How we store your personal information 

Your information is securely stored electronically. 

We keep your personal information for 7 years. We will then dispose of your information by deleting it from our systems.

 

Your Data Protection Rights

You can find out if we hold any personal information about you, and how we use it, by making a ‘subject access request’. If we do hold information about you, we will give you a copy of the information. If you want to make a request please contact info@headsupkids.org.uk

You have other rights over how your personal data is used and kept safe, including:

  • The right to say that you don’t want it to be used
  • Stop it being used to send you marketing materials.
  • Have it corrected, deleted or destroyed if it is wrong
  • Restrict our use of it 

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. Please contact us at info@headsupkids.org.uk if you wish to make a request.

 

How to complain

We take any complaints very seriously, so please let us know if you have any concerns about our use of your personal information. You can make a complaint at any time by contacting info@headsupkids.org.uk.

You can also complain to the ICO if you are unhappy with how we have used your data.
