What is Heads Up Kids?

Heads Up Kids is a social and emotional wellbeing curriculum for Primary Schools which is delivered in the classroom by the class teacher.

The programme aims to foster:

  • resilience and positive mental health
  • problem-solving skills
  • cohesiveness in the class and positive relationships
  • confidence and self-esteem
  • ability to manage difficult feelings

The programme enables children and their teachers to develop a shared emotional language. This means not only improving emotional vocabulary but also increasing children’s confidence to speak about and work with emotional material such as friendships, working together and big feelings.

We want to make it the norm for children to share their feelings and difficulties in the same way as any other topic. Just as a child would work through maths problems with a teacher or a peer – emerging better equipped, more resilient and more confident – the same should be true of many of the everyday social and emotional challenges that children face in the classroom and playground.

Our programmes are designed for the whole class.
