Year 3
The Year 3 programme consists of 12 sessions.
The children are given the opportunity to think about how they feel about themselves, how they express themselves, interact with others and manage difficult feelings. The programme builds the children’s capacity to work collaboratively and develops class cohesion.
“I am brave and confident, thank you Heads Up Kids.”
Yasmin, Year 3
Year 4
The Year 4 programme consists of 10 sessions and focuses on the consolidation and development of the skills taught in Year 3.
Teachers are encouraged to make links wherever possible with the wider curriculum and to use the language and imagery of the programme when supporting children with everyday social and emotional challenges.
“We can talk about what we feel and how we feel and things we don’t like, like bullies, and the teacher can help us with them.”
Luca, Year 4
Year 5
The Year 5 programme is made up of 9 sessions. In these sessions children explore key concepts for positive mental health such as gratitude, resourcefulness, and how we sustain positive relationships. Children will have opportunities to think about their feelings and their responses and will be given tools they can use when faced with difficult situations.
“I've had less arguments with friends since we started doing Heads Up Kids.”
James, Year 5
Year 6
The Year 6 programme is made up of 8 sessions and supports children as they transition and gives them the opportunity to consider how they feel, how they manage worries and change and how they can build positivity and resilience within themselves. The Year 6 programme can also be used as a stand alone programme.
Teacher training supports the teacher to deliver the programmes and to consider the social and emotional needs of the children in their class.
